"GRAPEVINE - Roads were shut down Wednesday and residents living in nearby
apartments between Dooley and Ruth Wall Roads were warned not to look out of
their windows Wednesday. School busses from Grapevine-Colleyville ISD formed
a perimeter around the site where President George W. Bush was scheduled to
land. No one was going to get a glance of the president on his way to the
Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center."

I'd have told them to stick it. There's no law that says you can't look out
your own window.
I wonder how Pfred is going to justify this....

I'd have asked if I could stand on my balcony and look in.
But on a slightly more serious note, instructing people to keep windows
closed along the route is reasonable. Not letting your own citizens look
upon the motorcade seems like it's part of some "Potemkin village" type of
thing. I guess they need to keep the idiot insulated and away from any
actual people who haven't been pre-screened and approved by his handlers.

President's motorcade.

Well, I suppose if looking a bit foreign and carrying a backpack can
get you shot in London, looking out a window might very well carry the
same penalty in the US.

I thought it was running from the police, jumping a turnstile and
shoving onto a train while carrying a backpack. Similarly, pointing a
gun out the window while the president's motorcade passed by would
almost certainly get you a bullet in the head.

same penalty in the US.

I thought it was running from the police, jumping a turnstile and
shoving onto a train while carrying a backpack. Similarly, pointing a
gun out the window while the president's motorcade passed by would
almost certainly get you a bullet in the head.

I should keep up with the news, Fred. He didn't jump any turnstile,
but simply used his pass as any good Londoner would. Which is a bit
odd, if he was being chased at that point, wouldn't you say?
Still that said, given what one reads of the presidential car, it'd
probably take at least a couple of RPGs to take it out.
Oh, you may find this interesting:

Until you have some way of identifying them, how do you know the excited

Of course, it turns out the man wasn't running from police, was wearing a
