OT: Duty done ! |
Well, I just fulfilled my democratic right to vote.
So the Lib-Dems get at least one vote anyway !

I was reading that Tony could still be in trouble if Labour's majority
dropped drastically. And I see exit polls say it could fall to around 66.
Think he'll try to hang on?

Actually they generally are. Some of our recent chaos has arisen because
the margins have been within the error range of the statistical methods
used. Like the 2000 election, the difference in votes between Gore and
Bush was *well within the error range of the methods and the news agencies
were irresponsible in "calling" the state at *all. And I see the exit
polls over there were off a fair percentage on the Lib Dems (who gained
more than expected).
Anywho...
I see the BBC is reporting Tony's already fighting off calls for his
resignation (I get the feeling this is going to be quite the bumpy ride
for Blair).

Amazing, isn't it? Labour suffered anti-war backlashes in the European
elections, in all the by-elections we've had, and finally in the general
election where Labour's canvassers will tell you that Blair was the biggest
liability they had. His credibility is at an all time low in the opinion
polls. There's a referendum on the European Constitution coming up in
about a year and, if he's still there, he'll get a kicking in that too.
You wonder what it'll take to make him realize he's not wanted any more.
