It's Kerry's style that makes America hesitate, while Bush's
self-assurance is apparently irresistible. Is this any way to choose a
president?

Sept. 15 - I can go anywhere in the world, emerge from a subway
station and march off purposefully—in the wrong direction. I love New
York because it's so self-correcting—you can't go more than a block
before discovering your mistake. And I view MapQuest as one of the
truly vital modern inventions. I still get turned around in the
labyrinth of the Capitol, where I wear my ID wrong side out to avoid
embarrassing my employer.
