The campaign to re-elect George Bush is drawing up a series of
aggressive strategies to counter Howard Dean, having identified the
former Vermont governor as the all-but-certain Democratic challenger.
The Bush campaign's official line remains that whoever wins the
Democratic nomination will be a tough candidate because the nation is
so narrowly divided. But at the Republican National Committee in
Washington and at the re-election HQ in Arlington, strategists are
drawing up plans to take on Mr Dean, portraying him as a liberal and a
tax-raiser.
