It ought to have been a joyous announcement for someone like me who
buys Fairtrade coffee and uses the swirly Fairtrade logo on Green and
Black's chocolate bars to justify regular indulgence. At last Tesco was
introducing a Fairtrade rose that would remove the guilt from Mother's
Day.
