"Fishing in dirty waters," that's what we in Egypt say when someone
tries to exploit a crisis for his or her own benefit. That's exactly
what Hizbollah has done by firing at Israel and kidnapping two of its
soldiers. The Iranian-backed Shiite group has instigated fights before
especially when its two masters, Syria and Iran, were under pressure;
but this time it decided to go fishing in the dirty waters of Gaza.
The timing of Hizbollah's attack couldn't have been any better. With
Israel's current military operations in Gaza, Hizbollah knew that an
attack on northern Israel would be seen by the Arab street as a gesture
of support to the Palestinians. This is exactly what happened
especially since the final cherry on the cake was the abduction of the
two Israeli soldiers.
