The Guardian
Britain and America have bowed to French demands over the withdrawal
of coalition forces from Iraq soon after the transition timetable
culminates at the end of 2005, it emerged last night.
The climbdown is contained in changes to a draft UN resolution that
was circulated among diplomats in New York last night, soon after the
new Iraqi government was unveiled.
