The Guardian
George Bush was able bomb Iraq and win an election on a "pro-life"
agenda without too many people noticing the contradiction. But one
thing he would never do is stand on a ticket to "review and if
necessary scrap the American bill of rights". Yet that is precisely
what the leader of the opposition has pledged to do to the Human Rights
Act, our nearest equivalent to a bill of rights.
