O.T. how do I get my serial ports to work |
I have two programs that use the serial port, ( I only have one serial
port, com port 1). One for my C.E.D. Chronograph and one for Radio
Shacks radio scanner program. I have made all of the bit stops and
other configurations correctly, I believe but it just won't work.
Radio Shack and C.E.D. are helpful. What to do. Running Windows XP
Pro.
Thanks

Have you checked to make sure that your serial ports are turned on and
configured correctly in the BIOS? If they're showing up in the Device
Manager hardware list then they should at least be turned on, but I
would still check the BIOS to make sure that they are set to the
correct values.

Do you have a modem in the machine?
If so make sure it is not on com 1 or 3 since three shares an interupt.

Dunno what type of cpu you have but when we had IBM laptops at work we
had to run the IBM configuration software to turn on the com port. It
would show up in device manager as turned on but would not work
through the software required until the IBM sw config was ran and they
were turned on there.
