IMF warns of al-Qaida effect

The International Monetary Fund said yesterday that a precipitous fall
in the dollar could cause US interest rates to rise sharply,
triggering a run on global bond markets.
In an otherwise upbeat assessment of the outlook for financial
markets, the IMF highlighted the threat of a renewed al-Qaida terror
campaign and the dollar's dependence on record purchases by Asian
central banks
