French troops were in a tense standoff with thousands of supporters of
Ivory Coast's president yesterday as the country threatened to plunge
into further violence.
Fifty French armoured vehicles manned by armed soldiers were assembled
around the residence of President Laurent Gbagbo in the main city,
Abidjan, and barbed wire was thrown around their positions. Mr
Gbagbo's supporters then attempted to form a human shield between his
residence and the French troops.

Where's the rest of the story? The unarmed dancing and laughing
supporters were then mowed down by the French soldiers. There is a
complete news blackout of this in France. Talk about hipocrites.
Fortunately there are videos and news reporters from other countries
like Switzerland.
