OT: Iyad Allawi |
Exiled Allawi was responsible for 45-minute WMD claim

The choice of Iyad Allawi, closely linked to the CIA and formerly to
MI6, as the Prime Minister of Iraq from 30 June will make it difficult
for the US and Britain to persuade the rest of the world that he is
capable of leading an independent government.
He is the person through whom the controversial claim was channelled
that Iraqi weapons of mass destruction could be operational in 45
minutes.

It was obvious when our leaders said this that they were talking
rubbish. How the heck did they believe him?

Stupidity of the Bushies in assuming everyone else is stupid. They think
they have the "problem" of independence solved by picking someone who will
do whatever they say. But the Iraqi people aren't as stupid as the
Bushies or as stupid as the Bushies think they are. Like Leno implied
last night in his monologue: that will work until something goes "boom"
next to Allawi.
But maybe that is all the Bushie are counting on? That the "boom" doesn't
happen before our election and the farce of a transfer of power will be
believed by voters?
The trick I'm waiting to see them pull off is how they are going to fake
troop withdrawal when we hardly have any replacement troops at all and
troop strengh is set to actually increase very, very slightly.
