OT? JACKSON'S TIT SIGNIFIES END OF WORLD!! |
Well, maybe not--but it's in keeping with all the hysteria in the local
paper, which put the story above the fold on both the front page and the
Life section.

Can you believe the uproar?
And, okay, so they want me to believe that the audience of a major
football game is offended at the sight of a breast.
Lemme try this again. The audience of *football is offended at the sight
of a breast.
Wait... am I missing something here?
Seriously, you don't think those guys go to Hooters just for the chicken wings,

From the way everybody is talking, you'd think they'd be in church instead
of watching the game anyway...
I have a lot of teen students who were watching the game _at_ church!

Hmmmm.......I wonder what would happen if we combined things and
inserted the fictional christian world into the mix.
Scenario.......
It wasn't Janet and Jason on stage but Jesus and Mary. And Mary dropped
her top as the 'blow-off' part of the act. The difference would be
instead of seeing a part of a middle-aged woman's breast these
christians saw a pair which would have won the 'Golden Globes' award
(deliberate word play).
Would christians fall all over themselves in a race to see who would
take the 'Emmy' for fawning and supplication or would they explode in
'righteous rage(tm)?'

Just vastly overstating the I.Q.'s of the audience as well as their

Trivial things worry trivial people. I still say big deal. It was only a
breast. And it only showed for about two seconds. Surely there are more
important things going on in the country and the world to concern the
media. Get over it people!

I don't think that enough has been made in the press about some of the
lousy care that our wounded guys get, even when they get home.
According to some reports, they are shoved into dilapidated facilities

The incident that the poster was refering to happened in the US after wounded
troops had been rotated back to CONUS. The service has been exceptionally
reticent to give proper medical care to wounded guardmen and reservists.

However, after the story got to be widely known the military decided to act.

Whether or not this has had any long term effect, I do not know.

Yes, this is what I was referring to. Thanks for the link, I had lost
mine. I hope that the second article is correct and the government and
the military will start taking better care of their own wounded, but
it's a shame that the report had to come out before they reacted. I hope
that it has a long lasting effect, but in this crazy time of budget
cutting on the one hand, and profligate spending for irrelevant wars on
the other, who knows what will happen.

Having considerable first hand experience on how the military medical system
does, or more accurately does not work, I was not terribly surprised to hear
about what was happening to wounded servicemen quartered at Ft. Stewart and
also at Ft. Knox. USAMEDDAC is, with very few exceptions, a bureaucratic
nightmare and a political boondoggle and is forced to use physicians of less
than stellar credentials and quality. What I believe that long term effect of
what happened at Ft. Stewy will be is to clear the backlog there only to have
it popup somewhere else unnoticed like Ft. Jackson or MacDill AFB.

This is a disgrace. If we are going to put brave young men and women in
danger, the least we can do is look after them properly if they get
hurt. this should be another campaign issue. Bush started a war in which
we were unprepared to take care of our casualties.

Actually, this story made the news over here as well (Norway). Not
that anyone cared about her (nice enough, but nothing out of the
ordinary) tits - we just found the American reaction to one naked
breast on TV amusing. A couple of weeks ago a guy waved his penis
around as part of jack-*****-type stunt in a popular crazy-comedy show
on Norw. national television. Most newspapers wrote about it and it
was discussed in one or two talkshows, some said it was "unfortunate"
and they really wished comedy shows would be more like in the good old
days when they were younger, while other commentators thought it was a
bit vulgar, but really funny (he wanted to see if it was more
intelligent than a sausage...). The next day they did a re-run so all
those who missed it could get a chance to see it.

around as part of jack-*****-type stunt in a popular crazy-comedy show
on Norw. national television.
God ettermiddag Anne Marie;
I'm not surprised the news story went world-wide. The ignorance of many
Americans I find quite embarrassing. Once again the U.S. motto "Land
of the Free and Home of the Brave" is shown to be wrong.
A reaction like you indicate above would be the adult one. But then,
what can be expected from a country founded by religious extremists?
We, as a country, would have been much better off getting the convicts.
Have all the news stories about the science education battles made it to
Norway?

I don't think I've ever heard anything about it on the (TV) news, it's
more a matter for the Sunday editions of newspapers, alongside stories
about rat-feeding festivals in India and the difficult situation for
women in Afghanistan. It is hard to believe - and frightening!- that
so many people take the Adam-and-Eve story seriously, as "science", in
a nation we really, really hope is more or less civilised, as it's
powerful enough to wipe out all of us if it wants to.

Hm... then you probably don't want to know just how far we've slid back
into superstition over here...
