OT: John Dubya Howard Justifies Unfair Funding of Private Schools Because They Are *More Moral* |
Australian Prime Minister and part time George Bush butt plug, John Howard
has justified his government giving private schools (most of which are
religious) more funding than public schools, (just think about that for a
minute) claiming that public schools are too "politically correct and value
neutral" ....in other words because they don't teach his particular
ultra-conservative slant, he's going to starve them of funds so that
everyone will be forced to become a private school pratts like him. The
fact that the reason public schools are suffering might be because they
don't have the funding to offer the extravagant resources private schools
can, just flies over his pin sized head, like so much Dubya jism as he pulls
off his half wit hero as reward for making the world a safer place for
deluded conservatives.

PM's private school stance a disgrace: unions
Teachers' unions say Prime Minister John Howard is demonstrating his
preference for private education by criticising the public school system.
Mr Howard says public schools are too politically correct, partly due to
what he calls "out of step" teachers' unions.
He says parents are increasingly choosing private schools for their children
because they believe government schools have become too politically correct
and too values-neutral.
The Federal Opposition says the Prime Minister has insulted millions of
parents by criticising the values taught at public schools.
Labor's Jenny Macklin says Mr Howard's comments are offensive.
"I'm sure [the] 70 per cent of parents who send their children to government
schools are insulted by the Prime Minister's comments today," she said.
Australian values
Australian Education Union federal secretary Rob Durbridge says Mr Howard's
comments about public schools are outrageous.
"This statement of his flies in the face of the fact that the Commonwealth
Government is funding private schools at many times the rate that they fund
public schools and the values that we teach in our public schools are
Australian values," he said.
The president of the New South Wales Teachers Federation, Maree O'Halloran,
says Mr Howard is just showing his true colours.
"The Prime Minister, who should govern for every child in the nation,
obviously values and prefers those children in private schools - it's a
disgrace."
"I feel the Prime Minister is out of step with mainstream views when he
sends two thirds of Federal Government money to the one third of children in
private schools," she said.
Intolerant
Greens Senator Bob Brown says Mr Howard has forgotten how intolerant private
schools can be.
"He has forgotten the difficulties there have been in private schools, for
example refusing legitimate kids with disabilities from their schools, a
case on that went to the Federal Court a few years ago, but the Prime
Minister discounts that sort of discrimination as if it doesn't happen," he
said.
Acting Federal Education Minister Peter McGauran has backed the Prime
Minister's criticism of state government schools, saying there is a worrying
trend for them to stop encouraging values in students.
Mr McGauran says state governments need to manage schools better.
"There is a growing trend that is discernible to parents that too many
government schools are either value-free, or are hostile or apathetic to
Australian heritage and values," he said.

What "values" that McGauran and Johnny are talking about were not made
clear by them but you can bet that God fingers in there somewhere
along with a triumphant white European history where settlers were
greeted by aborigines with open arms and were offered tea and scones
in grateful readiness of becoming civilised. I suspect that a school
will be judged to be "hostile or apathetic to Australian heritage and
values" by standards set by Murdoch, the IPA, the CIS, The HR Nichol
Society, and columnists like Amanda Devine, Peirs Ackeman (Spelling?),
Paddy Mcguiness and Andrew Bolt and of course the shock jocks.
Johnny *****'s "Australian values" = religious conservatism +
Washington consensus economics. What is needs from the *****'s
perspective are schools not producing anyone who will question the
above project. We need a nation of the walking dead - a nation of
zombies. We don't want anyone to notice when the PBS magically
disappears in the fine print of the US/Aus FTA.
And to think the ***** will probably still be PM for another 10
years.
