In our last episode <4266b797$1_1@127.0.0.1>, Rally pirouetted gracefully
and with great fanfare proclaimed:

House ethics committee Republicans say they are prepared to open an
investigation into allegations against Majority Leader Tom DeLay.

Oh uh.

Yessssss!

Uh, he said REPUBLICAN.
I can see it now:
"Hey, do you see any truth to the allegations?" (Wink, wink, nudge nudge...)
"Naw, I don't see any. Do you?" (Snigger, snigger...)

Uh, he said REPUBLICAN.

There is a growing split in the GOP. People are looking at the
numbers Bush and the neocon agenda are starting to return, and
beginning to distance themselves from the White House.
So just the fact that an inquiry will happen is big news.

Yes, that's the point. The knives are coming out on his own side now.
DeLay's past the point of no return, AFAICT. Think Nixon in the
terminal stages of Watergate.

Don't get your hopes up. Opening an investigation doesn't mean that they'll
necessarily adhere to your prejudgement of him.

Wow, I remember when you said the same thing about Clinton.. Oh.
Wait.

Never mind.

Indeed. I seem to recall a certain neo-con denizen of alt.atheism who insisted
that opening an investigation was de facto proof of wrong doing, because, after
all, Congress has more important things to do than to pursue spurious claims of
wrong-doing.

Would you be so kind as to cite the exact words of that particular

The fact that it is the republicans doing this might be a good sign.
Then again, they might just be sacrificing DeLay to make themselves
look good.
