"While on the tour of a shelter with top administration officials from
Washington, including U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao and U.S.
Treasury Secretary John W. Snow, DeLay stopped to chat with three young
boys resting on cots.
"The congressman likened their stay to being at camp and asked, 'Now tell
me the truth boys, is this kind of fun?'"

What was snipped was the boys' response, to the effect of, "No, sir. My
grandma died because of the heat, and my mom is still very, very sick from
some chemicals that leaked from the refinery across the way from where we
lived. And the house that my great grandpa built, it is gone, sir, along with
four generations of family stuff: photos, Christmas ornaments, a christening
gown that my great, great grandmother made when she was a slave and which
we've used every christening in the family since. And my best friend, Tommy
LaFine.... I haven't seen him since the storm. Have you seen him, sir? Do you
know if my best friend is still alive? He's only 12, sir."

Just one more piece of evidence that DeLay is the biggest jerk ever to
slime his way into Congress.

I want to see the whole of what DeLay said. Not that I don't believe

they did to Barbara Bush's comment.

Ah, in that case, never fear. I don't do the "guilt by association"
thing. At worst, it says something about her, not Shrub. Shrub
stands or falls on his own merits, at least to me. Those who are
playing that game, well, I can see where they get the idea but I
consider it misguided. Even if the worst spin put on her comments are
correct, no one is a carbon copy of their parents.

....In fairness, the comment was extracted from a lengthier exchange in

Geesh!
And Delay's comment was just that - trying to liken what they were

Do you have the whole context of what she said? I do. It's not as
damning as you seem to think. She was reacting to what some of the
refugees told her.

Geesh!

I still want a transcript of the *whole* conversation. I know just how

Well, it's official -- I am ashamed to be an American.

I want to see the whole of what DeLay said. Not that I don't believe
that he's a jerk, but I'm just suspicious of quotes like that after
what they did to Barbara Bush's comment.

They did to Barbara Bush's comment? There was nothing in the context
of what she said, that didn't make her look incredibly bad.

Do you have the whole context of what she said? I do. It's not as
damning as you seem to think. She was reacting to what some of the
refugees told her.

Yes I did.
She's a jerk.

Geesh!

And Delay's comment was just that - trying to liken what they were
doing as a stay at camp. What the hell did you expect from him.

I still want a transcript of the *whole* conversation. I know just how
the press likes to take soundbites like that out of context.

What's the matter, are your fingers broken?

comment was replay the recording...

A carefully selected part of the recording. The part that doesn't
include her compassion for the refugees in the Astrodome, and that
doesn't indicate that she's reacting to people who told her that they
were overwhelmed by the hospitality that they had received there after
the trauma of the flood and the rescue.
