Senator John Kerry was raising his defences against attacks from the
Bush White House this weekend after reinforcing his standing as the
man most likely to take on President George Bush in November with
fresh Democratic primary victories in Nevada and Washington, DC, at
the weekend.
With polls suggesting another convincing win for the Massachusetts
senator in Wisconsin tomorrow night, the political focus is already
shifting to his likely match-up with Mr Bush. The President's
re-election campaign is visibly changing gear to begin the task of
discrediting Mr Kerry.
