OT: Lateral Thinking Site |
Example:
1. You are driving down the road in your car on a wild, stormy night,
when you pass by a bus stop and you see three people waiting for the
bus
* An old lady who looks as if she is about to die.
* An old friend who once saved your life.
* The perfect partner you have been dreaming about.
Knowing that there can only be one passenger in your car, whom would
you choose?

Pure nonsense.
Would you rather die of a burst appendix or fall off a cliff?

The perfect partner. According the libertarians in

simultaneously maximize the good of all.

The reason my car only has room for one passenger is that it's
a hearse. I pick up the old lady 'cause I'm going her way.

I'd ask the old friend to drive the old lady to the nearest hospital
and wait for the bus with the perfect partner.

Why is the friend waiting for a bus?
He was out drinking? His car is in the shop for repairs? He chooses to
take public transportation when available, and didn't listen to the
weather report? There's plenty of reasonable responses.

The old lady because apparently she is the only one who is in danger

Which will impress that perfect partner (how do you know that just by
looking?) and enhances your chances that she will fall for you....
The old friend certainly would understand.
