Object: OT: "Liquid" version of plasma globe possible?
I've got some of those handly little plasma globe light bulbs they've
started selling at Wal Mart (not the big globes with stands, but
individual bulbs you can use in any standard 120 V socket). I've read
a little about them, and am just curious if any type of liquid-filled
variation on the theme might be possible. Perhaps even just a kind of
"foamy" liquid, like a globe filled with something resembling Floam.
Watery liquid would be better, but Floam-like "liquid" would be
acceptable, and probably more possible as the individual Floam-like
particles could conceivably be made hollow or less-dense-than-air thus
making the plasma-like effect more readily producible.

I'm not an expert, but I don't think such a thing would work, at least
not on the same principle. The liquid would be a conductor or an
insulator, or something in between, but it would not be a near-vacuum.

yeah, you need a very specific conductivity in the air. And since this
is in the AA for some reason, I would like to add that plasma globes
are a miracle.
