SINCE September 11th 2001, it has become obvious to all that the world
is a risky place. Even before that atrocity, the world had seemed far
from safe to many, especially those concerned with business and
finance. The end of the dotcom craze and the bursting of the
stockmarket bubble had already created huge uncertainty. But those are
only the most recent examples of unexpected events that can make a
mockery of people's plans.
