OT: Looking for video clips... |
like the opening sequence of the movie "Contact". It's a clip zooming
away from earth faster and faster showing the relative insignificance
of the earth and our solar system compared to the vastness of space.
I'd also like any sites with info/graphics showing the relative
insignificance of humans when compared to the history of the earth and/
or the universe.
Any ideas?

http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap060927.html is a shot of Earth taken from
near home.
You could also show a picture of another G type star.

Wow. That's weird. The galaxies in that movie all formed into an image

Carl Sagan quite famously convinced the mission planners at the JPL to
turn Voyager around, and photograph the Earth from the outer planets. I'm
sure the photo is online somewhere. It makes the Earth look like a tiny,
blue-tinged speck, or, as he phrased it, a 'pale blue dot.'
