Object: OT: my yahoo groups deactivated
My yahoo groups have been deactivated, apparently due to messages
bouncing. The last message I received was on 6/20, and McAfee spam
killer filtered the deactivation warning from yahoo.
I don't bounce groups.yahoo messages, and the last time this happened
was a cockup at the ISP.
But I can't find any reason for these bounces - I have however had
forged bounce mesages coming to me.
For some reson it won't take unbounce requests.

Yahoo groups deactivated ALL user groups, I believe.

Yes, they did. All user created groups/chat rooms have been suspended
due to flack they received over a news report that these groups are used to
lure children by pedo's. After the news report, they were hit with a
lawsuit, and they have suspended user created groups until further notice.

No. JUST chatrooms.
The user created groups are still working just fine. I just checked my
yahoo email, and I have new group mail there from today as I speak.

I heard on the radio last week that they were going to do this to
prevent luring kids into porn, that sort of stuff.
SBC DSL now uses Yahoo, I don't know if they've been bought or if SBC
is playing big brother to Yahoo as terms of the affiliation.
I'm sure it's all back room deals. I'll try to find what I can.

The messages are there, but I'm no longer getting them in email. I
keep trying to unbounce but it won't take it.
They are mostly model railroad groups plus a couple of atheist ones.

I think that's something you need to talk to Yahoo about. There may be
something FUBAR with yer email account.
