Nader defies Democrats and says he will run again
http://news.independent.co.uk/world/americas/story.jsp?story=494197
By Andrew Buncombe in Washington
23 February 2004
Ralph Nader announced that he will make another bid for the White
House yesterday - infuriating Democrats who blame his 2000
presidential run for helping elect George Bush.
Mr Nader, a consumer rights advocate, said he had decided to run again
because Washington had become "corporate occupied territory" and there
was little difference between the Republicans and Democrats. He said
he would run as an independent candidate in order to challenge the
"two-party duopoly".

Anyone who can't see the night-and-day difference between
Al Gore & George Bush, like Nader, shouldn't be allowed
to walk the streets unescorted.

I think you're taking that statement TOO literally. Of course there
are differences and Nader knows that. I may say there is no difference
between a racist and a homophobe. Of course they are different in the
literal sense, but ultimately both are bigoted fucks that need to be
removed from the Earth no matter their differences. Both Republicans
and Democrats are self-serving parties more interested in promoting
their economic and foreign policies than working toward a country that
takes care of and treats all of its citizens equally.
Anyone who takes everything at literal, face-value without putting any
thought into possible alternate meanings shouldn't be allowed to post
to to usenet groups.

Generic statements make good sound bites, but Nader
made *No* case to distinguish himself from Al Gore
in 2000, other than to claim that the Democrats suck.

No, it's those idiots who post thoroughly sterilized,
oh so generic statements and think they've actually
said something.

It's funny that I was following the issues and I recall Nader
distinguishing himself from Gore in several ways.

Yeah, that's clever and well thought out.

Yeah, he said there was no difference between the Democrats
and the Republicans... something even the most idiotic amongst
us can't believe now. Not after four years of Dubya.

I'll wait. I'm sure you'll say the same thing again, "in several ways."

Yeah, that's clever and well thought out.
You've had four years to grasp it. Don't blame me if you can't
recognize the bleeding obvious.

Yeah, that's clever and well thought out.
During the 2000 campaign, a friend in advertising told me that Karl Rove
paid for ads for Nader. I have never seen anything about this in the press.
Still haven't, but there is a comment by a Green poster from Oregon saying
the same thing. Look for comment by kamosa at:

The similarities really do overwhelm the differences. Pols must be centrist
to have a chance of winning. They also make it a point to play up what
differences there are to distinguish themselves from their opponents. It
amazes me that some have found (Darth) Nader's remarks so enigmatic.

The same for the current Democrat candidates.
