The forms of globalisation advocated by international agencies such as
the World Trade Organisation and by the US, British and other
governments, tend to be justified intellectually by recourse to
neo-liberal theory.
Consequently it is neo-liberal policy reform that is often seen as a
principal cause of the growing inequality and poverty evident in many
parts of the world.
