With a week to go until the presidential election, state officials
yesterday said the electronic voting machines to be used in 16 New
Jersey counties, including Mercer County, are secure and reliable.
"We are confident that every vote will be counted and counted properly
and that these machines will perform the way they are designed to,"
said Markus Green, chief of staff for Attorney General Peter Harvey,
New Jersey's top election official, at a panel discussion on voting
technology that featured demonstrations of various kinds of electronic
voting machines.
