Hey! :-)
In my quest for an ever more flexible newsreader, I've found 40tude. It
looks and works a lot like Agent, but uses scoring like XNews. For those
who like features of both, this looks like a fairly decent program, and
it's free for private use. Anyone have any problems with it I should look
out for?

None I remember.
I used it as an alternate for a while.
I found it just marginally less comfortable than Agent.

Oh, yeah. I forgot - I hadn't upgraded mine in awhile, so my copy didn't
have that feature. Oh, well, at least this is free.

Does it support X-Face?

I like the way it alters the text color for each participant in the thread.
XNews fixes badly wrapped lines. Does 40tude? "Word wrap" just turns word
wrapping off so links and the like don't get wrapped. "Reformat paragraph"
doesn't seem to do anything.

I'm still discovering most of its capabilities, myself. But I haven't
found that capability, yet. I'll let you know if I do. I like 40tude a
little better because it's an easier offline reader. Though I guess these
days with broadband and all, there's not much need to be offline anymore.
But still, it's nice to take my messages with me when I travel. :-) I
like that it decodes yENC, as that's becoming more popular. I don't know,
XNews just didn't have a very good "feel" for me. I like this one much
better. Certainly better than Agent, which I'm now almost sorry I paid for
since this one is free. :-# But what the hay, that was 4+ years ago or
so, I believe. :-) The scoring system is neat, and _this_ one lets you do
multiple identities and have different newsgroup settings under each one -
a functionality I'd inquired about previously. So I'm in Usenet Heaven.
:-)
