Paul Martin is ringing the changes after finally taking Canada's
political hot-seat, writes Anne McIlroy

Canada's new prime minister has moved quickly to distance himself from
the Liberal government he was an integral part of for almost a decade.
Paul Martin's first move after taking power late last week was to turf
out many of his former cabinet colleagues, replacing them with new
faces few Canadians recognise from the back bench of the party, which
has won majorities in the last three federal elections.
