Object: OT Now that's a subject.
I recently bought a 19 inch monitor and a dual monitor card. Now I have both
a 19 inch LCD and a 20 inch CRT set side by side.
As most of you know Outlook can expand the subject line if all of it does
not show on screen.
In another group I clicked on a line and saw it extend across both monitors
and out the other side....
Here's the whole thing:
Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life: no one can come to the
Father(God)(in Heaven), but by me." (John 14:6) This means that if you die
without trusting in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour you will die in
your sins and be forever separated from the love of God in a place called
Hell. The Holy Bible descibes Hell as a place of eternal torment, suffering,
pain and agony for all those who have rejected Jesus Christ. The good news
is that you can be sure you are going to Heaven when this life is over if
you allow Jesus Christ to save you today. Do not wait until later to be
saved because you do not know exactly when you will die. [ Posted by:

Just the idea of one subject jumping across over two feet of monitors at a
resolution of 1280x1280 seemed amusing to me.

Doesn't the space between the monitors sort of ruin the effect? What
are you using the dual monitor setup for anyway?

I have been a dual monitor user for well over a decade, nothing makes using a
computer better, or easier, than a duelie. I have my newsreader on the first,
the web-browser on the second, so I can pull up a link on the web when
necessary, or whenever I feel like it.
Makes it rather handy when I am bidding on eBay, I don't have to keep
switching things around. I also sometimes run a movie on the second monitor
while doing other things on the first. Back when I was computing on a Mac
SE/30 I found that it was the perfect way to respond to posted messages, I
could have source material open and handy to copy from while writing a
response.
I also used to be the assistant moderator for the ACLU on AOL, it was pretty
handy to be in (literally) two places at once, the ACLU chat-room and the
message boards. That way I could keep an eye on both for those times that we
had spammers hitting both, which happened more often than I care to remember.
I won't even mention how useful two (or more) monitors are to those who do
Photoshop (or GIMP in my case, one of these days I will actually get good at
it, I hope), no clicking around through a few dozen palates to try and locate
what you are trying to work on.
I love my dualie so much that I nearly bought a video card for my SE/30 that
would have let me run nearly a dozen monitors at once, "make room, make
room." (This was years after the SE/30 was considered long obsolete, I have
yet to see such a video card offered for anything made since that computer,
especially for less than a couple of hundred dollars. I would expect that,
for several thousand bucks you could find something that would do the job,
but why would you want to when it could be done far cheaper, and on a Mac?
;-)
A dual monitor set-up is almost demanded when reading one of Stoney's "humour
posts," just so you can check out all the links.

Matrox makes multiple monitor cards still.
Works with Linux too, so should work with close
OSs like BSD or derivatives like OS-X
Stil $600 or a little less, but it might also be
found used on google cheaper.
There are other brands, and you could also run multiple
video cards.

I will have to check that out, thanks.

Not all that bad a price in order to set up a wall-sized monitor set.

There are other brands, and you could also run multiple
video cards.

But there are never enough slots for all the cards, no matter what sort of
computer you have.
I really do need to pick up a new video card for my second monitor, the one I
am using is quite old, at least 6 or 7 years old, it still works fine, even
with Mac OS X (10.4), but it is not completely compatible (at least according
to what Apple says), plus it has got to be pretty slow compared to anything
much newer. It is a Rage 128 ATI that I bought second-hand on eBay at least 5
years ago. It has done me very well in 3 different Macs.
