That's an oldie but goodie. I'm curious as to what you get out of the
skit. How it strikes you.

As I have mentioned in this newsgroup before I was once an atheist so when I
hear George Carlin's remarks I see why he and most atheist feel the way he
does. I don't blame or judge George for not believing in religion. Religion
is the reason that most with common sense do not believe in a god. Religion
is doctrines of men.
Georges' take is, religion is a bunch of BS therefore there is no God.
However just because we see religious lies or do not understand/comprehend
God or God does not appear before us does not prove God doesn't exist. But
it's no big deal if you don't believe in God because God will not punish you
in Hell like most Bible thumpers gloatingly will tell you. If God of the
Bible is real then there's an evil spirit that deceives everyone including
self-proclaimed Christians. The God of the Bible says Satan deceives the
whole world. God is currently letting us live our lives on our own freewill.
He will intervene only to rescue us one day from total self-annihilation and
only until then will He intervene in Man's affairs. It is obvious that Man
lacks true Divine guidance because it is obvious many die in the name of
religion and also many die in the hands of non-religious dictators such as
in Africa. Once history records humanity's shortcomings will God intervene
and will resurrect the dead. Then He will finally have our full undivided
attention and history will bear witness against us. Then we will know the
truth about life and why we are here on this earth. Humans have a purpose on
this earth but we will not know our full potential until after we live this
current life void of God. Yes, self-proclaimed Christians and Muslims
included.
I will give you a fact that is found in the Bible that most Christians do
not even know about because they are blinded by doctrines of men. Most
Christians think that the Gospel of Jesus is that He died for our sins and
we must accept Jesus in our heart or burn in hell forever. I wouldn't be
surprised if 99% of them swear up and down that this is the message Jesus
wants them to preach. Yet the Gospel of Jesus found in the Bible proclaims
that the Kingdom of Heaven will one day be established on earth and until
then will we finally have true peace on earth, but only after we humans
acknowledge utter defeat by our own actions.
When I see those TV evangelist crying for money on TV I see what you see,
fraud. Yet I believe God is letting us live our lives so we can one day
reflect back and see all the pain and suffering our owns actions have caused
us.
Thanks for asking me what I think of the skit, in a nutshell it strikes me
interesting.

Religion is a politically correct word for saying, "I do not
understand God but this is what I think He means." To
understand God is not through religion but through philosophy,
His philosophy. We do not understand His philosophy
because our mind is hostile, yet His philosophy is
so simple that a child can grasp it, Love One Another
phi·los·o·phy: Love and pursuit of wisdom by intellectual means
and moral self-discipline. Investigation of the nature, causes,
or principles of reality, knowledge, or values, based on logical
reasoning rather than empirical methods.

Of course.

Georges' take is, religion is a bunch of BS therefore there is no God.

The problem is the g-o-d letter string is effectively undefined and what
is put forth about it fails under the slightest glance.

However just because we see religious lies or do not understand/comprehend
God or God does not appear before us does not prove God doesn't exist.

One can slide a random letter string into that g-o-d slot and the
statement remains valid. There's an unlimited number of things which
can be asserted and I don't see people like you holding that attitude
towards them.
Two months ago, you borrowed 50,000 UKP from me and gave me your word
the money would be repaid no later than January 4, 2007. The funds have
not been repaid.
If you cannot show me a signed bank reciept proving you repaid the funds
then the debt is still owed and you are a thief. The Ten 'Suggestions'
forbids theft which you ignored.

But
it's no big deal if you don't believe in God because God will not punish you
in Hell like most Bible thumpers gloatingly will tell you.

Ah, but the Bible is advertised as the 'word of gawd.' You're telling
me gawd lies. In which case there's no reason to consider any of
it-especially the empty promises.

If God of the
Bible is real then there's an evil spirit that deceives everyone including
self-proclaimed Christians.

Said evil spirit *is* your gawd. It flat stated that.
[snip the rest of the drooling idiocy]
How sad Carlos couldn't be bothered to answer my question. However, I
really didn't expect him to as his track record is quite extensive.

That was funny. Glad the comedian decided to run with it because it was better
than his originally planned material.
