OT: Oh, my, What a Week |
I have lost track of what day it is. I believe it is Saturday.
Last Friday (the 23rd), one of my cousins decided "Hey, I need
some more attention" and decided to overdose on
diphenhydramine--except he did a *****-poor job of doing so. He took
only four pills. This is the same cousin who had the meth problem and
was sent to some famous drug rehab camp in Tennessee. Some good it
did.
My grandfather died this Wednesday, at the honorable age of
81. The news, albeit saddening, came as a shock to no one--he had been
rapidly been going downhill since March. Those who have done so know,
it ain't easy planning a funeral.
As for things with me; well, they are peachy. I am planning
for college by sending in applications and writing scholarship essays.
I have also narrowed down my potential list of majors and minors. I am
as ready as one can be right now for college.
It certainly helps to have friends in times like this, no?

Wow, sweetie, so sorry to hear about your cousin and your grandfather. You
have my most sincere condolences. 81 isn't a bad old age. My dad was 2
months shy of 80 when he passed and had been in extremely poor health for 3
years prior to that - it was no way to live.
Glad to hear about your going to college. IMHO, you're an extremely bright
young man and will go far. I know you've been posting here for a couple of
years and I feel like I've watched you grow up. I wish all young people
today were as mature, well-spoken and sensible as you are.
Just remember, we're a little nutty, but we're here for you. Can't beat
that with a stick :)

Damn right. You have to fill out the appropriate
Beating forms in triplicate before you can.
Be sure to check off the box marked 'stick',
rather than the one marked 'club'; otherwise we
send you a whole new set of forms *and* you have
to fill out an AF-15477/12 report, describing in
detail why the mistake occurred...
Condolences and congrats, Daniel. ;)

Certainly. Daniel, if I may suggest, go for the area(s) of study you
enjoy most and pick for electives items you have interest in that fit
in that niche.
I have it planned out: a science major (I know not which one yet). And
then off to law school. This way, if the law school thing fails, I do
not have a history, English, or political science major to fall back
on. I actually have something, gasp, useful!
