Object: Ot. Oops...Obama and God
Looks like at least one Democrat is stealing the Republicans fire.
Excerpts:
"I just want all of you to pray that I can be an instrument of God.."
"We're going to keep on praising together. I am confident that we can
create a Kingdom right here on Earth."
What say ye Democrats?
Are you offended?
Pissed?
At least Bush never claimed he would "Create a Kingdom right here on
Earth?"
Scary ain't it?
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2007/10/07/obama-gop-doesnt-own-faith-and-values/
Meanwhile the Republican Fred Thompson:
Excerpts:
HANNITY: Would you want to have a conversation with Dr. Dobson? Do you
think that might help?
F. THOMPSON: I have no idea. I don't particularly care to have a
conversation with him. If he wants to call up and apologize again, you
know, it's — it's OK with me. But I'm not going to dance to anybody's
tune.
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,299359,00.html
Excerpts:
And "Rudy Giuliani, who supports abortion rights and gay rights, leads
in national polls of the Republican presidential candidates.
Campaigning in New Jersey on Monday, Giuliani brushed aside talk of an
upstart effort by religious conservatives."
And this:
"Viguerie said conservatives "are still open" to former Massachusetts
Gov. Mitt Romney, but said, "we haven't seen anything that guarantees
that he will hold to the positions that he's articulating." Romney has
been questioned about his record on gay rights.
However, the proposal to consider a third-party candidate comes from
anger that the Republicans whom Christians have helped elect for
decades have failed to act on policy issues important to evangelicals
on abortion, marriage and school prayer.
"Conservatives have been treated like a mistress as long as any of us
can remember," Viguerie said. "They'll have lots of private meetings
with us, tell us how much they appreciate it and how much they value
us, but if you see me on the street please don't speak with me."

Heh!
Sometimes things just ain't what they seem.

I thought it odd that he is jumping on the religion bandwagon and two
of the Republican candidates are doing the opposite of what so many
Democrats claim they do.
Not pandering to religious leaders.
Dismissing them in fact.

The picture I get of Obama is that he is sincere, not "jumping on a
bandwagon." Anyway the stereotype of Christians being conservative is
something that is being promoted by both sides, but there are many
sincere, religious Christians who are political liberals. I meet them
all the time.

I think he's jumping on the bandwagon.
He's a Washington politician and will do whatever it takes to get a
vote.
I also think he's naive and inexperienced enough to have a bit of
sincerity and decency left in him but that shouldn't last long.
He's up against some pretty mean spirited and power hungry people and
they can't be honestly dealt with because they have no sense of honor
or shame and consider honesty and honor to be weaknesses.

There was a photo somewhere of him standing in the pulpit shucking the
corn and the congregation responding in that Holy Ghost filled manner
so common with some believers.
I thought it was funny :-)

No, he'd rather hasten Armageddon. I'd prefer a "Kingdom right here on
Earth." That way, I can live somewhere else.

He doesn't actually want to hasten Armageddon but a misstep at this
point might.
But we are there and if Iran is supporting the enemy as claimed what

Yeah, we already set up Iraq to present to Iran. We can't afford to
stay and run their country. As it is, we are just supporting the
chaos until they settle how they want to run our country.
We can either continue forever to perpetuate the chaos or leave or
completely take over the country in defience of everything we stand
for.
Thanks Bush for giving us those wonderful incredibly expensive
options.

I don't think that "completely take over the country" would work. We can
either leave it a big fucking mess, or stay with it a big fucking mess.

Well his wife said he was so smelly in the mornings that his girls
