I've done that. They tend to stick their cameras in your work and are not
willing to stay behind if the boat gets filled with people who need to get
to medical attention.

I'm not *too disturbed by that aspect. I don't want idiot
photo-journalists blundering around and getting in the way of the rescue
efforts.
There's just a disturbing trend toward "managing" what people outside the
area see...

Governments found out in WWI the effect that showing films of war had on
people.
They wanted it to stop.
So they started controlling the media then and it probably peaked during
Vietnam.
So they hide the bodies and erect real potemkin villages (apparently they
never actually existed) and tell people how well they are doing.
It might not work this time.
I saw a southern Baptist minister on TV with his preacher voice talking in a
happy voice about the people in Houston being happy and getting a chance to
start over. I had to turn it off.

I hope it doesn't work this time. But they're working overtime on it. I
see Lou "I'm such a *****" Dobbs is doing the "everybody's at fault" dance
to cover for Bush.

Sheesh.

To bad he wasn't an invisible idiot. [see thread title]
And a little premature, Rita may miss Houston. Oh, he's talking about
the _refuges_. Houston may yet though get a chance for a fresh start.
Hey, double refuges too.
