Yes. I'd rather (a) be mystified or (b) figure it out myself.
Either of these is better than being told.

Anti-light, of course. He uses beams of it to extend from the backdrop to
the actual flower, knocking off the petals.
(Oh come on, it makes more sense than half the stuff the fundies spew on a
daily basis.)
