The local university (Youngstown State) had a "turkey shoot" where the
engineering students competed to build catapults or cannons and fire
frozen turkeys at targets. One of the animal rights orgs was rather
embarrassed when they protested the treatment of the turkeys before
finding out all the details. :-)

this one, which was on TV and in Smithsonian magazine
