Has any generation in history ever banged on about itself more and
with less merit than the baby boomers?

Oh good, another 1960s retrospective. And another. And another. You
can't move for celebrations of "the decade that changed the world
forever". Tate Britain is honouring the art of the swinging decade in
an exhibition starting at the end of the month. BBC Four is a week
into its Summer in the Sixties season, while the Sunday Times magazine
is devoting acres to the 10 years that shook the planet.

Usual, crap.
The sixties were the years when we discovered that we did not need
MumboJumbo or Royalty.
We discovered that the yanks could be Evil and Stupid in Vietnam.
Britain was not just a Petty Middle Class Wet Dream.
Britain was a great place with a sometimes horrific and somtimes heroic
History.
British people dicovered that their freedoms were greater than
the crap Constitution of the USA, which only protected the Rich.
And the Beatles went to Wanky Land and told them the *truth.
The Beatles were more famous than Jesus Christ.
O.K. the Nazi's were still in Power in the USA and the USSR.
The British people discovered that they had lost an Empire.
The British people discovered that they were the most respected
people on the plane!
Oh! yes it was a great time to be young in Britain.

Na na na! Not right. They started in the end of the sixties.

Capital Punishment. Abolished. Now you can't join the EU unless you
abolish it!

Good. But it took one more decade to France to abolish it (With François
Mitterand in 1981). I don't know if it has any relation with Great
Britain, but it's great. In fact I don't think, it's more due to Mr.
Badinter.

And then the most powerful thing to come out of the 60's. Europe!

But not a British idea as such.

And the Greatest Dream that we have over here in Europe, (including
Britain).
The greatest dream, is that *we will not make it happen again.

"Never again" was the motto of the post-WW1 population.
Sad in fact.

We will not pacipitate a *Third World War, though I think we still could.

Hum, we have to take care of it.

Most sensible people in the EU want it to stay that way.

We have to kick Valéry Giscard d'Estaing's butt who want to change it.
In fact I'm not agree with him, not because he was a bad president (but
he like to play accordeon), but because he doesn't want, and in any
case, to accept Turkey in the European community.
1960, it's also: Mai 68
'Music' Poom poom poom...
Mai 68 c'était hier (May 68, it was yesterday)
On bouffait du riz cantonais (we used to eat chinese rice)
On descendait la rue Lepic (we were coming down la rue Lepic)
Quand tout à coup ils ont chargé (when suddenly they charged)
