OT: Portable video players. |
Hi there
I've been thinking of getting one of these for a while, and rather
like the look of the Creative Vision M, 30Gb version. Can anyone
recommend anything better, that will allow me to import my own movies
with the minimum effort? Views, thoughts, opinions?
TIA
TW.

Regardless of which one you go with, there will be some effort in
getting movies on there. I started with an RCA Lyra 2780, and then
stuck with the Archos line - in all cases, I used a VERY handy program
called PocketDIVXEncoder to convert my videos for play on the player.
I don't know what your technical level of expertise is, so please
forgive me if I'm re-hashing things you already know. :-) There are
so many damn video and audio codecs out there that the days of
dragging and dropping video files and having them just work are long
gone.
If you go with the Creative (HIGHLY recommended...Creative has been
making the best media players for a while now) it should come with
software that handles the video conversion for you. I'm pretty sure
that, in all cases, you will have to use at least one program in order
to get your videos from desktop to portable.
