OT: Quake 4. |
Tremendously amusing.
Got it yesterday, but only in the Air Defence trenches at the moment.
Your thoughts perhaps in contrast to Doom 3? (at least I can see what
I'm shooting at in this, so far...).

It feels like it. Nvidia released four new graphics cards in the past
six months - each one more powerful than the last. Their newest one has
512MB of ram - that's as much, if not more, than most computer systems!

I'm actually enjoying Quake 4 quite a bit - a great deal more than I
enjoyed Doom 3. Part of that is the story...it just seems a bit more
involving (stress on the "bit more" part).
Since I'm a sucker for patriotism and heroism, Call of Duty 2 possessed
most of my recent gaming time, in between bouts of Star Wars
Battlefront II (being Yoda is frighteningly erotic).
Funny story...I was dabbling with Torrentspy quite a while ago and
downloaded "Christian Lemonade Stand" - I wish this were a joke. It's a
simple game based on the old text version; you buy sugar, lemons and
ice, combine them in different ways, adjust your price day by day
depending on the weather, and away you go.
The Christian version never had rainy days, no customers were ever
displeased with service, and "God smiles on you" would replenish your
money should you drop below a minimum.
The excitement never ends. Boo ya.

How is COD2? I've just played the demo and it wasn't bad. If it's
plotting way points and the rest of the rubbish like the Tom Clancy
game I've no interest in that.

Wow...someone who despises the waypoints as much as I do. :-) COD2
really is a great 1st person shooter. All of the campaigns combined
will only give you about 12-14 hours of play, but it truly is an
experience to have...everyone on the battlefield, allies and enemies
alike, are constantly chattering, talking strategy...honestly, it's
about as close to WWII warfare as we'd ever get without traveling back
in time. Even during missions where stealth is called for, the action
is non-stop. And racing crusader tanks across the desert, watching them
het hit by German shells in front of you is indescribable!
How did you stay awake?
Actually, playing the game helped me realise that Jesus is doing some
awesome things in the lemonade industry. :-D
Seriously, though, the only thing keeping me awake was my sheer
confusion and disgust, combined with that feeling that, no matter how
hard I scrub, the filth will never come off.

That's all I can remember of the game. I don't even recall the name
of the wretched thing.
I've still got games to finish/play that I haven't seen in a couple of
years because of a dodgy computer. Finally, the last piece of the
puzzle appeared (intermittant problems that wouldn't resolve to the
source) and I replaced the mobo. Just finished; Morrowind 3 and
Soldier of Fortune 2. I've still got to finish; NOLF2, Heavy Metal
FAKK2, and Doom3. I've got to start Splinter Cell.
I do hope Morrowind Oblivion is also released on Linux as gameplay is
the main reason I still am mostly using XP.
