Well the first question is, are they on the server when "they" say
they aren't?

I don't know, your post is no longer on the server.

If they restore a server from a backup after you've gotten the list of
posts, the post itself is no longer on the server (it wouldn't be on
the list either, but you got the list before the backup, when the post
WAS on the server). If you refresh your news reader, that post will
no longer show up, since the server is back in the past - assuming you
can refresh your news reader, which I don't think you can do with OE.
A computer is just a way to make more mistakes faster.

My server is still under construction. Sometimes I'll try to carry on a
conversation, then I can't refresh. I'll close the reader and re-open it,
and everything I'd just read and replied to is gone. Then it's all back in
a few hours.

Thanks, Uncle Vic.

You're the third person on RoadRunner that's commented on having problems
with Usenet. Looks like RR's having server trouble...

When they bought out Comcast I was without a news server for a few days.
Had to use Google. Then they picked one up a few days later, and it was
crap. Unlimited binary downloads don't mean diddly when most of them are
broken. It's getting better, but the speed keeps undulating between
500KPS and about 65KPS.
