Beatty taunts embattled Schwarzenegger - and faces pressure to stand
against him in gubernatorial election next year

When it comes to politics, Warren Beatty is a terrible - even
inveterate - tease. Six years ago, the veteran Hollywood actor,
producer and director allowed half of America to believe he might be
interested in running for president, milked the publicity for all it
was worth, made a couple of fine speeches to showcase his liberal
credentials and finally let it be known that, actually, he wasn't
running at all.
A similar scenario is playing itself out all over again, this time over
the California governorship. Beatty's fellow screen actor Arnold
Schwarzenegger is just over a year away from standing for re-election
and, despite a euphoric rise to power and an uncannily long honeymoon,
is now struggling with rock-bottom approval ratings.
