I've seen chatter about this but this is the first I've seen from AOL:
http://help.channels.aol.com/article.adp?catId=2&sCId=204&sSCId=2041&articleId=218626
Can it be? AOL is leaving?

Damn shame, and all that. The AOL folks contributed so very much to the
Interweb community, like prissy, whiny netcops, semi-literate ramblings
from kids who'd been raiding the parents' liquor cabinet, and other
important stuff like that.

Speaking of which, in a fitting end to September 1993, an AOLer on another

the newsgroup when AOL closes it down.
Sigh.

Dunno. But if nothing else, it's the symbolic passing of an era (though,
granted, much like the passing of a gall stone).

Besides, the WebTVers were even worse.

Fortunately, most of them can't find their way around well enough to
discover Usenet in the first place...

Every rule has exceptions, even this rule. But that would mean that there are
some rules that do not have exceptions, making the rule that every rule as
exceptions a factual fallacy.

I've seen chatter about this but this is the first I've seen from AOL:

http://help.channels.aol.com/article.adp?catId=2&sCId=204&sSCId=2041&articleId=218626

Can it be? AOL is leaving?

Buh-bye, AOL! Be sure to not write!

Well, I know AOL listens to their customers...apparently they determined
that their customers wanted high prices and fewer features.

Funny. They just had that ad campaign saying how they were going to make
the internet better. I thought they meant for their customers, they really
meant for us! Thanks AOL!

I love how they're making their service better by dropping services.
('Course now, they're about to attack the "blog" world)

Something about they're developing some new software and "services" for
blogging. They can't just use the existing stuff, they have to have their
*own.
But the upshot is, they're about to unleash the AOLers on the *blogs...
(I understand the blog world is worried their September is just beginning)

Better them than us, although it would be better if it wasn't them
either.
