Euphoria unconfined over here among the right-thinking, left-leaning,
that Kerry's first decision seems to have been spot on; and that the
warm southern blood, folksy chat and unlimited hand-pumping of John
Edwards will, at last, have given the Democratic campaign the
yay-hurray factor, the devotion-vacuuming power it needs for victory
in November. Suddenly JFK (II), hitherto the Talking Tree, now has his
very own Field-Marshal of Charm to deploy. Signs of Republican panic
have become less furtive. How many more words can Dubya tactically
mispronounce to demonstrate his populist parity with Joe Schmo? Will
***** Cheney's two-directional mouth, the east apparently addressing a
different audience from the west, become even more crooked when faced
on television with the Pepsodent-perfect irradiation of the Edwards
grin?
