Spain's new leader snaps ties with the past

José Luis Rodriguez Zapatero was approved by parliament yesterday as
Spain's Prime Minister, nearly five weeks after his surprise election
victory transformed the country's political scene and alliances across
Europe.
MPs voted 183 to 148 to endorse Mr Zapatero, 43, who has shaken the
world with his commitment to withdraw troops from Iraq unless the UN
takes charge before 30 June.
