OT: Star Trek - Crouching Tiger |
Someone on the IMDB Star Trek:Enterprise board wondered why all the oriental
characters on Star Trek were always Japanese. So I got to thinking that, if
Star Trek ever had a Chinese character, it would have to be your
stereotypical "wise" Chinese guy, forever spouting off bits of Taoist wisdom
at crucial moments in the plot. Or even better, combine the stereotypical
Chinese Kung Fu Warrior with the Taoist Master, and get a guy who subdues
aliens with some mad Chin Na whilst spouting Taoist wisdom.
But if you're going to go having Chinese characters, why not go all they way
and also have Indians and others from large populations.
So Star Trek: Crouching Tiger would have
Amitahb Bachchan as Captain

Zhang Ziyi as the smokin' hot First Mate (doesn't speak English, could be a
problem)
http://ziyiforever.primenova.com/
Edward James Olmos as the Doc
and so on and so forth.
But then, why stop there? How about,
Star Trek: L O S T
Small spaceship crash lands on deserted planet... wait, hasn't this been
done?
Star Trek: Law & Order
Aliens commit capital crimes for tawdry reasons. Hotshot young cop joins
forces with wizened veteran of snappy dark wit to bring justice to the
galaxy. Exotic alien physiognomies complicate evidentiary issues.
Star Trek: Kevin Hill
Handsome and intelligent black Captain of the Enterprise voyages the galaxy
in search of good looking white women while raising his dead cousin's baby.

Charlie Chan in space? Star Trek is ending after this year and it is
long overdue. It jumped the shark after the Patrick Stewart series.

And Chakotay being of Native American descent was central to several Voyager plot
lines.
