Thief Steals Poop From Woman Walking Dog
Thu Mar 31,11:32 AM ET
SAN DIEGO - This mugger was left holding a bag he didn't really want.
Police said they were searching for a gunman who ran up to a woman while
she was walking her dog Monday night and grabbed the bag she was
holding. It contained poop.
When the gunman discovered what was in it, he threw it down in disgust,
pointed his gun at the 32-year-old woman and demanded money, San Diego
police detective Gary Hassen said.
He then aimed his .22-caliber semiautomatic at the dog, named Misty, and
pulled the trigger twice but the gun didn't fire, Hassen said. The
robber, who was believed to be in his 20s, ran to a waiting small,
silver car and fled, police said.

If he went around trying to rob people with an empty gun, it would make
him twice as stupid.

Years ago something similar had happened in New York. A woman who was
out shopping hit a cat and felt so guilty she was going to take it home
to bury it. She dumped out one of her bags and put the cat inside, then
left it on the curb by her car while she ate so it wouldn't stink up the
vehicle. Sure enough, she saw a woman walk past, see the high-price
store's bag, then stop to adjust her hem and grab the bag as she stood
up.

I've got a thirty year old book of urban legends that says that one has been
going around since the 1920s, but there's no evidence it actually happened.

April Fool's Day, just as a normal bit of human interest news *shrug*
