I have recently returned from my first parliamentary trip - to India. I
flew out on new year's day with 11 other Conservative MPs, and returned
just before parliament resumed.
Trips like this rarely get publicity - and then only for the wrong
reasons. The media likes to refer to them as junkets.
They focus on the cost, the freebies, the exotic location. They
certainly refuse to believe that anything like hard work can take place
outside the jurisdiction.
