Object: OT: The Price of Pork Chops?!
For various reasons I was watching The Andromeda Strain movie today.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0066769/
It was released in 1971. And still quite good.
I'll Be watching "Colossus: The Forbin Project," later.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0064177/
Anyway, in Andromeda, when the guys in BioSuits enter the dead town,
there's a sign that gives the price of pork chops per pound.
What's the price today?
Two of the three "people of the book" exempt from this question!
Thanks
TW.

Very true. I rather like those ones with the removable cooking plates.

Huh? That had better be for the best center cut

I'm not sure of the going price myself, as I'd never
buy anything unless it was on sale. Oh. I'd pay
about $2 a pound normally, for a sale price. That
would be either "mixed" or "center cut" is I'm
lucky and there's a good sale.

I've heard that so much corn is being sold to biofuel companies to be
turned into ethanol that the price for cattle feed has gone up
considerably. That translates into higher per-pound costs for beef.
I don't have a link to support this contention, however, so take it
with a grain o'salt.

Mosey on down to your local Whole Foods/Sunflower Market/Wild Oats and
pick up some buffalo (bison) meat. It has less fat and cholesterol
than a chicken breast, and tastes beefier than beef. Makes *the*
bestest chili in the whole wide world....

Hmmmm...maybe you got spoiled bison meat. I've had spoiled beef, but
I've never had any bison meat that tasted like it.
Sorry you had a bad experience with it. I love the stuff. It *is*
drier than prime or choice beef, because it's leaner, but I've had
good results with it in stew, chili, burgers, etc.

Nor me. I do like cod, haddock, salmon, trout, plaice and sole. Also
anchovies on the rare pizza I have and in salad dressing. I can't
