'The Soul of Capitalism': Government Isn't the Answer

William Greider has written several important books about how the
world works, including "Secrets of the Temple" (still probably the
best book on the Federal Reserve), but his new book, "The Soul of
Capitalism," is very much about how he thinks the world should work.
It's a bold and ambitious attempt to remedy the lack of vision that
has plagued the American left since the decline of New Deal
liberalism. Ultimately, Greider falters -- a victim of the distance
between his vision and current reality -- but for anyone interested in
serious economic and social reform, his effort is worth reading.
