Make that three. I really appreciate the talent the kids
show in this piece. The discipline demonstrated in the
beautiful tones and and tight harmony are very impressive
for people of any age. But when you think how young most of
the performers are, it is quite remarkable.
BTW, my old record collection is growing. i got the 3
record box set of the Sons of the Pioneers in essentially
mint condition. I also bought a small ultrasonic bath to
clean records, and expect to soon start making digital
copies of some of these records. Unfortunately some of my
favorite childhood memories involve 78 RPM disks (I'm
Forever Blowing Bubbles, Slow Poke), so I may have to buy a
fat tip cartridge to play them. My turntable only goes up
to 45 RPM, but I can fix the speed in software.

Too light for some I think.
But I agree.

BTW, my old record collection is growing. i got the 3

mint condition.

Where did you find that?
I wish I had everything they ever did.
I've been listening to them today on YouTube.
Search YouTube for dalrockRD.
He uploads some pretty good older stuff including Roy Rogers and Sons
of the Pioneers.
One was Pecos Bill which I haven't heard in years.

I also bought a small ultrasonic bath to
clean records, and expect to soon start making digital

Willing to sell a cd of the stuff you do?
Nothing under copyright of course though it is legal to give a copy
away.
Its awfully difficult to find.
My mother was in the antique business for years and has a huge
collection of 78s in mint condition and an old wind up Victorola also
in mint condition.
And I remember sitting around listening to the old songs as well as
The Lone Ranger, Turok Son of Stone, The Shadow and other things on
the radio.
Gawd I've had such a good life.
I came out of the nineteenth century <Living conditions> into the
twentieth and now here I am in the twenty-first.
Dang I'm getting old :-)
I went to bed one night at twenty-three, woke up the next morning and
I was fifty-nine.
Now how the hell did that happen? ;-)
But you know, I still idolize Roy Rogers.
A lot of people do.
Even some of the younger folks.
We all thought he and Dale were singing Happy Trails just to us.
And maybe its just the mood I'm in, or maybe my age but this sort of
choked me up a bit.

You can still find 78 players in thrift stores. A lot of them have
electronics that are so out of date they sell them in the home decor
section rather than electronics, but I still see them. I'm lucky to
have a record player that plays 33s, 45s, 78s, 6", 10" and 12".

It's not just an age thing. I love old radio shows; they're the perfect
combination of being passively entertained and using your imagination.
If you're not familiar with this site, they have free MP3s you can
listen to. They have a fair number of shows, but not many episodes of
each. And no Jack Benny, who's my favorite: http://www.radiolovers.com/
If you like, I'd be happy to send you a list of the public domain shows
I have; I'd be happy to mail copies of anything you want.

That's wonderful.
I'm listening as I type.
Amos and Andy first with a Rexal Drug store commercial on the front
end and now "Calling All Police" with a Rio Grande gasoline
commercial.
Lol!
The bad guys...
"Hello Cookie."
"Hello Blackie."
There were an awful lot of bad guys named Blackie back then :-)
I love this!
I've got to get a portable MP3 player.

***** off wankstain.

Heh...I don't think he likes me :-)

Oh dear. I mean, I personally think the Osmonds are an abomination, but I
would NEVER dream of insulting YOU just because you like them.

Actually the guy is so irrelevant that from him a lame attempt at
insult isn't the least bit insulting.

And I still liked the bear on the Andy Williams show, so there! :)

Lol!
I swear, I don't remember a bear :-)

LOL - And that's about the only thing I do remember. Then again, I was just
a little kid when the show was on ;)

It was that powerful voice singing Moon River that got me.
When I worked an inner city ambulance in Memphis I got tired of the
absolute insanity of dealing with the violence and gore and became
obsessed with the idea of building a raft and floating down the
Mississippi River like Tom Sawyer just to get away from it all.
Just me, a bunch of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and a large jug
of grape Koolaid floating downriver without a care in the world.
I would play Moon River constantly and one night in a bar the people
got to moaning every time I went to the juke box and I had a fellow
come to my table, give me a handful of quarters and say that if I
would just let him play something else for a little while I could play
Moon River for the rest of the night.
He went to the juke box, put on something else and the crowd cheered.
Luckily we were all pretty much regulars there which I suspect is what
kept me from getting beat up over it :-)
I would still love to make the trip in a houseboat btw and several
years ago I and several guys on my shift at the fire department nearly
did it.
We just couldn't get the scheduling right.
Dang!
I'm feeling it again :-)

No offense, but gak. If I had a nickle for everytime I heard Moon River
coming over the radio in my parents' house, I wouldn't have had to dish out
a dime of my own money for the subsequently required therapy ;)
