Special report: Tourism, once the privilege of the wealthy, is
becoming available to more people than ever before. Led by Asia's
burgeoning middle class, the industry is poised to prosper-all the
while helping travelers gain a new, deeper understanding of their
world.

April 19 issue - Imagine you're young, Chinese and in search of
once-forbidden thrills. Your country's supercharged economy means
easier access to money. And its more relaxed politics means a passport
is on offer for the first time. But where to go for that
once-in-a-lifetime holiday and a chance to spend some of that cash?
Head for the other hemisphere and you won't be alone. Last year South
Africa's Sun City leisure and casino complex pulled in a record 5,000
visitors from the Chinese mainland. Plenty more are expected to
follow; company reps visited China this year to drum up high-end
trade. Says Sun City international-marketing boss Ian Anderson: "We
see it as a massive opportunity."
