We're Dodging The Draft Issue

If we need to occupy another country that threatens us, we will either

Oct. 4 issue - It's a potentially lethal issue—the kind that could
make young voters swarm to the polls and their nervous parents change
their minds about supporting President Bush. Republicans are peeved
over Democratic claims that the president will impose a draft if he's
re-elected. John Kerry was hammered for mildly suggesting that such an
idea was even "possible." Bush backers are right that this is a
suburban myth and no such plans are underway. A scary and misleading
Democratic e-mail circulating on college campuses highlights pending
legislation to revive the draft and efforts by the administration to
bolster local Selective Service boards. Predictably, the e-mail
doesn't mention that the draft bills, which are going nowhere, are
sponsored mostly by Democrats (who think military service falls too
heavily on minorities) and that the draft-board system is being kept
well oiled because of old laws requiring it—not some nefarious Bush
plot. "Not. Gonna. Happen," concludes conservative columnist Michelle
Malkin.

Hello. This is 18+ months into the conflict. Temporary rotations don't
mean *****. The Neo-cons were declaring that the Iraq operation would be
over completely in around 6 months.

They said the same about the vietcong rebels in the south at first.
They said we only had to worry about the ARVN (or the NVA). But the
fact is that it's not just radicals and foreign fighters in Iraq.
It's average Iraqi civilians who are fed up with the living hell that
their life has become. There are 17 million Iraqis and they are the
one's furnishing the manpower for the resistance. Perhaps if the US
were occupied by a foreign power then cowards like yourself would not
fight for their freedom, but real patriots like me would be out there
killing the enemy.
We fight gangs in Los Angeles, not an army.
Even you can't be stupid enough to think that we lose 75-150 police
officers per month in Los Angeles, yet we've been losing numbers like
that in Iraq. Even the death of a few police officers a month would be
a big deal in huge cities like LA or NYC. Furthermore, that's just
killed. If we had hundreds of severely wounded police officers every
month in LA then it would be a very serious problem compared to what
we have now.
